    CYBER WELLNESS.

    INTRODUCING TO CYBERWELLNESS TIPS

    Read and know about cyberworld

The purpose of a need to know the cyberworld is because we need information about what is going on in the internet world. Any virus could become something that you always do online. To avoid having viruses in your electronic devices, it is safer to get a crash course constantly about the cyberworld as it updates your mind with what is really going on now. New kinds of viruses could come out anytime. If people are not aware of those viruses, they might fall into virus traps online and eventually alert the virus particles.

    Respect

In order to prevent bad things happening to you, it is important to show respect online. Whatever you are doing to people online, people will do it back to you eventually. What goes around, comes around. Respecting people is a basic manner. Not only meeting in person, but also in the internet world. Before an update of blog, twitter status, facebook status or even posting a comment, think before you post. The contents inside, you might take it as a joke. But, remember, the other party might get the wrong idea of yours. They might get worked up and do something back to you. We will not know what, but it can be anything. Do not use offensive words on people. Some people might take it seriously as an insult. You might even end up having police cases. You respect people, people will respect you.

Be careful of what you post online

Things you need to take note of are: Usage of language, posting of images, words you use to describe something and videos. You should not use vulgarities to talk to people, be it online or meeting in person. Some people are really strict about your language. Despite the country having people who do not mind vulgarities, still, it's not the right way. Just a bit of wrong usage of language, it might get yourself into big trouble. Sharing images is nothing wrong, but beware of what you share. The internet world is not something you can abuse. And your words. Say something nice, don't directly speak out the meaning in front of someone who is not very happy with their imperfectness. Having offensive language and images in videos are an offend. Not only you would cause people who are involved in the video trouble,  you yourself might not be able to escape either. Think twice before you do something.

    HOW TO PREVENT VIRUSES

Sometimes, in some social websites, people would receive some links which are unknown. But, right beside the links, they stated that you've won something. I would advice you, not to click on the links. People online often choose to use things like iPad, iPhone etc to attract people's attentions. Once you've clicked the link, you would alert the virus particles and they will start moving around your electronic devices. Claiming of prizes are just the captions of the links, it's not a fact. For you and your electronic devices' safety, it is better to buy the smart security and install an reliable anti-virus program. Smart security will stop any unusual downloads from rooting into your electronic devices. Anti-virus program allows you to scan through whatever you are going to download from the internet browser and detect if that particular program consists of any virus or unusual content.

You would often receive in your e-mailboxes that you've won something from their companies or the email contains some download links which inquires you to download it. Never ever download something like that without having it scanned first. Remember, it is always safer to check first before confirming. It would be too late if you were to download first and check. Even if you have already detected the virus from your program, but they have already started working towards your computer. You might have troubles fixing it or worse, you would lose all your data.

Here are some other tips of preventing viruses:

    -Set up automatic scans.
    -Install a firewall.
    -Watch your downloads.
    -Stay away from cracked software.

WAYS TO PREVENT YOUR ACCOUNT FROM BEING HACKED

Do not set simple passwords like: Mobile phone/Home number, date of birth, NRIC number etc. Set passwords that are slightly more complicated and something that people won't have the same idea as yours. Do not inform anyone about your password, username is necessary. If possible, avoid telling or hinting your friends and especially strangers. Some strangers are experts of hacking, you might not know. So keep strangers and your friends in dark about your passwords. Passwords are type of privacy, it belongs to you and no one else. Unless sharing a same account with friends, if not sharing of your own personal passwords is not very appropriate. Change your password regularly to prevent anyone from seeing through your password.

WAYS TO PREVENT TALKING TO STRANGERS

When a stranger randomly talks to you online, do not provide he/she with your personal info e.g. name, school, age, address and mobile number. Do not answer any of his/her questions. If he/she happen to have interest in meeting you up, delete them or block them immediately. Block your personal info and set it to only those people whom you've accepted as friend or approved them can see your personal details. This can prevent strangers from stalking you. On networks such as Facebook, do not accept strangers' friend requests. Only add people whom you know. If you are talking to a stranger online, do not show a picture of yourself to the stranger. It is for your own safety.
